The engine light comes on and stays on and I took the Honda to Autozone and
the troublecode #'s that came up are P1457 (unable to pull vacuum in tank)
and P1298 (IDM Failure).  I bought a "Haynes Repair Manual" and the codes
are not listed the same.  How do I figure out the codes and what they are
for?

It sounds like they used the Ford P1 list for those codes.  (P0 codes
are the same for all cars, but car manufacturers can pick their own P1
codes.)

For Honda (from the manual for my Equus 3100 reader):

P1298 Electrical Load Detector Circuit High Input
P1457 EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System)

Try googling OBD2 for all you want to learn and more (OBD2 is actually a
pretty good troubleshooting aid).
