OP:http://tinyurl.com/buzlr

I finally got around to checking into the poor gas mileage on my 1990
Civic wagon.

I checked the distributor cap and rotor and they seem fine, along with
the spark plug wires. I also changed all four plugs and the air filter,
and adjusted the timing, which had been a little retarded. I dumped a
bottle of fuel injector cleaner in there as well and checked the
pressure on all the tires, and we'll see how it goes. I will report
back after this tank.

One thing I forgot to do is check out the PCV valve. We'll see if my
problem gets better first and then I'll move on to additional testing.

The fuel mileage seems to have remained the same, unfortunately. I'll
check the PCV valve and O2 sensor later this week and report back.

89 Civic  authomatic. The Mileage on my car seemed to go down.
I was going to check out every part possible. I don't know if that
really help.  I put a new PCV because it's so cheap. I don't know
if I want to O2 sensor which is not cheap. I checked distribuator
and rotor which seemed to fine. So what might caused problem on
mileage? I don't know if any other to look for improve mileage or I
don't have
mileage problem. I'm afraid that the engine might be the problem.
I mean the engine power probably got weaken which caused weak tranny
power. My car get around 28-32miles/gallon. What is yours?

28 to 32 isnt BAD, but if youve noticed the mileage going down, it could
be due for a simple tuneup-

plugs
oil change
air filter

if the wires, dist rotor, etc is original, it should be replaced too.
same with the O2, which makes the biggest difference, i think.

had the same problem. my accord mileage went from @27-22 to @22-17 and
all for a stupid O2 sensor. when i got that replaced, all was back to
normal. good luck
