My wifes 2005 Honda Element w/6k mi will not start. When you turn the key to
the start position the steering wheel moves but it won't turn the engine
over. Sometimes you can shift the shifter out of park but there is no
starter action. The battery has a full charge. There is sometimes some
clicking noises behind the glove box area when you try to start it?  Any
ideas just to get it going. If all else fails we will have to get it towed
to a dealer. Not the kind of experience we expected from a New Honda??

sounds to me like the alarm/anti-theft has been enabled.  This happened
when I lost my clicker piece and keys.  The locksmith made a key and
reprogrammed my car to accept it.  $450.

Does that green Key square blink on your dash?

If you just bought this car, just bring it into a dealer.

If the car supplies power to the stereo, turn it on and see if it
works.  If it reads something like Err 1 or Enter Code, then the
anti-theft is most definately enabled.

The car needs to get reprogrammed to accept the key, and the stereo
code needs to be entered.

Hope that helps,

Matt
