Hey folks. I'm in the market for a new car. I'm just trying to make an
educated decision before purchasing. So I was wondering if I could get
some feedback from other owners of the 2002-05 Honda Accord EX. I just
want to know about gas mileage, any repairs or recalls, reliability,
safety. Basically, overall satisfaction.

I owned a 2004 Honda Accord EX for one year and then traded it in for an
Acura RSX. The Accord was great and didn't have any problems. I just did't
like the cheap hard plastic interior and those large dials. Also I preferred
to drive stick. Fuel economy was average, about 24/30 mpg. I get better
mileage with RSX which is more agile but less comfortable.

I purchased an '05 Accord LX and got rid of my '89 Prelude Si.  Accord is a
nice car but like your RSX, the prelude felt more agile (smaller) and more
fun.  However, it IS an Accord manual (stick shift) so I still have a little
fun while driving. :-)  But very reliable (Only a little over 6k miles), gas
mileage is abt a low of 24mpg (almost all city with a/c) to a high of a
touch over 34mpg (all highway with a/c).  Accord EX is a nicer car - just
wanted to point out that you could also get it in a stick!

I have 19,000 miles on my '04 EX sedan, 4 cyl. auto. No problems, period,
except for some interior rattles, many of which have seemed to have since
disappeared. A couple of weeks ago I had the "20,000" mile service
performed, which included a carbon blow out, or something like that, and it
really made a big improvement in acceleration.

Mileage in-town, cross-town traffic with stretches of 45mph here and there:
27-29. The last fillup was 29; I've had only one highway trip and got 34,
but I'm sure I'd get much better since it was a 240 mi round trip combined
with with about 30 miles of in town driving.

Bought a 2004 Accord EX 4 cyl, auto. trans. for my daughter. One
warranty item (ABS sensor) but no other mechanical/electrical faults.
The drivetrain is simply outstanding. Steering is very good, suspension
is good, utility is very good. Exterior design of the 2004 is OK but
the 2006 is nicer. Overall mpg is close to EPA rating.

We replaced the tires that came on the car. We found the OEM Michelin
tires good for maximizing fuel economy but nothing else. The car gave a
fairly harsh highway ride before we put Goodyear Assurance tires on it.
Now it rides far better at highway speeds and has better traction in
all conditions. Our car's cloth interior is OK but the seat cushions
are short so long-legged folks may not be very happy. The seat foam is
firm so if the seats don't fit you, I suspect they may become
uncomfortable in fairly short order. My daughter and I are fine with
the seats but my wife hates them. YMMV.

Overall, the Accord is a nice mid-sized sedan but not so nice that I
wouldn't consider a 2007 Camry, due in showrooms in a few months,
instead. If you are looking for a V6-powered car I'd certainly wait for
the Camry.
