Some were asking about OBD2 check engine code readers and erasers. This EBAY store has them too and the auctions start at 1 cent !! All I remember from a year or two ago is that Honda being Honda had some proprietary thing going on and their codes couldn't be pulled by the guys at Autozone, or cheap scanners, etc...only the $3500 Snap-On reader or similar. ODB mandated standard codes are _identical_ for _all_ vehicles sold in North America since 1996, and may be read by _any_ code reader. The second character in these codes is always zero. (P0301, etc) The VOLUNTARY codes (second digit is one or higher) are specific to the manufacturer that adopted it. These cannot be read by all code readers, so you need to buy a reader that will handle Honda enhanced codes. (P1456, etc) Two here: www.matcotools.com www.otctools.com AutoZone and other places also sell readers compatible with Honda enhanced codes. CAN is just a communications protocol, like TCP/IP. The codes themselves remain the same. CAN will be on ALL cars by 2008.
