Hello all,
Back in '04 i traded in my Ford F-250 guzzler for the Honda Element.
Love it. Now my wife wants to trade in her Ford Expedition for a Honda
Odyssey. It sure looks to be a comfortable well designed minivan and,
in many ways, looks to be the best in class.
Does anyone have any pros and cons of Odyssey vs Sienna or other vans?

We've owned a touring model since January. We love the 3 power doors.
Great for my elderly parents and I'm sure it would be great for kids. If
you skip the back power door and video you can save a lot of money and buy
the EX instead.
Car is outstanding. The only negatives are like typical late model Hondas,
the stereo system sucks. Probably they need to rework the antenna and get
better speakers. Also it would be nice if they had some package hooks in
the back that could be used when the back seat is down.
I had a 2001 Avalon and it was a rattle trap so that made the Sienna my
second choice plus the handling is inferior and it is priced higher. The
Chrysler would be desirable if you really need those stowaway seats in the
middle row but it gets poorer gas mileage and ride is inferior to the 2
imports. We had a 99 Chrysler 300M and liked it more than the Avalon so we
are not prejudiced against Chrysler.

the odyssey gets top ratings from all the critics. the sienna is no
slouch, either. check em both and buy what you like best. cant go wrong
with either.

Hey Art and SoCal,
Thank you for your insights. We just carefully checked out the Toyota
Sienna and it was $8000 more for the model comparable with the EXL (L
is for leather). We went immediately over to Honda and bought the
Odyssey. Luckily they just received two truckloads of new cars, so they
were selling almost at invoice. Only driven it about 10 miles so far,
but I'm very impressed with comfort, quiet, acceleration, accessories.
Now if my wife will let me borrow it once in a while, all will be good
:)

I'm sure you will love it. EXL is a great deal if you don't need the rear
power door.

I have an '05 Town & Country. The stow n go feature is great. You never need
to worry about where to keep the seats when you need to carry larger cargo.
If you have kids, the DVD package is worth the price. The only bad thing I
have to say about this vehicle is that the gas mileage in city driving is
horrible. Well under the EPA numbers, probably 14mpg or so. On the highway it
will easily match it's EPA mileage of 24mpg.
