Hello,
Any comments on the BF Goodrich T/A T-speed tires
for my accord lx 01?

Also, anyone have any experience getting tires installed
at Discount Tires (north Atlanta) location?

Thanks!!

Which T/A are you referring to?

Traction T/A?

Touring T/A?

Radial T/A?

some other T/A?

I recently put the Traction T/A tires on my 2003 CRV, and I think they
are the best tires I've ever had.  It's the first time I tried them, and
when it's time to do my other cars, they are getting these tires.

ive got BFG touring T/As on my 98 civic and i really like em. i went
with a +1 sizing, and compared to the firestone FR680s that were on
there, theyre incredible.

I've been very pleased with Discount Tire (Fort Worth).  I bought a set of
alloy rims from them and the balancing and rotations are free for the life
of the tires.  I took it in fairly frequently for rebalance and rotations
(even though rebalance was probably not needed).  They are very metiulous
with their mounting , they tighten the bolts in proper sequence with an air
wrench, and then use a torque wrench to finish tightening it (again in
proper sequence, going around a couple of times.  When I bought the rims,
they asked me to come back a week later fro retorquing.

A couple of days ago, I bought a new set of Goodyear Triple Treads there.
Again, the same meticulous service, and a good price which I was able to
negotiate down a bit (as I did with the rims).

I really don't care for the Triple Treads, but I cannot blame that on
Discount Tire.  I went in there asking for those specific tires - it wasn't
their recommendation.

That part was my own fault.  I read several postings here on how great the
TTs were.  I had 2 bad expreiences with Goodyear Aquatreads, I should have
learned my lesson back then.  Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice,
shame on me.  Fool me a third time, and double shame on me.  There won't be
a 4th time.

The issue with the tripletreads is the handling.  I haven't tried them in
the wet yet, but the car now feels like I'm driving on oatmeal.  The
steering isn't near as crisp as with the traction-less Michelin Energies
that came with the Accord (Michelin should be ashamed of those pieces of
trash).  The handling with the Michelins was decent and the steering was
crisp, but that's all I can say for them.  The dry traction was awful - I
would inadvertently chirp the tires starting off with just a light touch on
the gas (a 4-cyclinder Accord!) and in the wet, forget it.  I couldn't wait
to get rid of the Michelins.

Someone here even tried to warn me against the TTs, but I read such glowing
reports, I decided to ignore those few negative reviews/comments.  Well, I'm
sorry I did.  The handling is so mushy, on my way home from work, I pulled
over thinking I had a half-flat tire.

Another Goodyear gripe coming up.  Recently I was mildly praising the
Goodyear Regatta 2's that are currently on my '93 Accord.  But my praise may
be about to disappear.  I have put less than 10,000 miles on them, but they
are starting to cause vibrations that vary with speed, regardless of whether
I accelerate, brake or cruise.  I seem to vaguely recall them doing this
before I put on my winter tires (no such vibrations from those).  I have
heard reports of flat spots becoming a common problem on Regatta's; I have
not checked for sure, but I bet that's what mine have.

I am now considering getting new tires, but I do not know if it would make
sense to buy a more expensive tire (e.g. TripleTred, Michelin Harmony) for a
13+ year old car with over 140,000 miles on it.  I am thinking perhaps
something less expensive like the Kumho 795 Touring or the Toyo Spectrum may
be what I need.

140k miles is nothing  -- your Accord is barely broken in.
I bought a set of Michelin Harmonys for my 1993 Accord at 145k.
The Harmonys are great in every respect except noise.
I bought these based on good reviews on tirerack.com and
upon an inspection of a sample tire to see if the tread
pattern would be conducive to quietness. The problem is
that the tire I was shown was a 15"er, which has a different
tread pattern than the 185/70R14's that were installed
on my car. The 15" tire has five rows of tread with
the center row unbroken, which I reckoned would give me
a quiet highway ride. The 14" tire has four rows of blocky
tread which makes for a noisy ride.

I miss my X-Ones.

My Goodyear ComforTreads felt the same way at first, but after about
800 miles, they firmed up and now give a great ride.  I almost took
them back the day after purchase, but decided to give them a try for
awhile (Discount has a 1,000 mile ride guarantee).

I am glad I did, because the ride is now excellent.

This weekend, I had a little time to play with my new TTs and added 1.5
pounds of pressure in the front tires and 0.5 pounds in the rear.  The
steering seems a bit quicker but still not as good as the otherwise crappy
Michelin Energy tires. I haven't tried moderately hard cornering since I
raised the air pressure.

Thanks for the suggestion to wait a little while.  I haven't had a chance to
try them in water (or ice/snow), supposedly they do quite well in those
conditions, which is why I bought the TTs in the first place.  The stock
Michelin Energy tires didn't even have decent traction on dry pavement.

That's odd. I bought the TT for my Acura Vigor and they are working great. I
had them over a year and they still grip great.
Still quiet and are wearing good. I got more torque than your Accord
170lbs-ft@3900rpm.

I can take corners quite fast without worrying that I will lost control.
Work great in Winter weather too.

: Thanks!!

I put Traction T/As on my '01 Odyssey about a year ago and have been pleased
with them.

About a year and a half ago I had Discount Tire in Duluth (Ga.) put a set of
Yokohama Avids on my '00 Accord SE. I've been happy with the tires and with
the service I've gotten at Discount. I've been to the Duluth and Chamblee
stores, but nowhere you could really call north Atlanta. I like it that
they're a national chain.
