Hello,

I wonder if it is risky to tow a trailer tent with an Accord 2002 4cyl.

I read in the user manual that the towing capacity is 1000 lbs max. But
most of the small trailer tent are just over that limit around 1200
lbs.

Is there any modifications I could do in order to increase this
capacity? I am looking at around 1500 lbs with all the stuff in the
trailer.

Thank you,

Martin

And that's why people buy SUV's or pickups.

If you are going a very short distance, during light traffic, then
MAYBE I'd give this a try.

You'll be stressing your transmission, brakes, suspension more than
designed for.  I'd be even more hesitant to do this with a manual
transmission.  Your clutch will get hot, hot getting the load moving.

If you feel compelled to push an automatic tranny this hard, change the
fluid afterwards.

Why not just rent a bigger tow vehicle from a car rental place, and
save a lot of potential misery?
