I've been reading around the various forums, and found out that
Honda's Music Link is probably not a good choice for using the iPod in
the car.

Ideally, I'd like to get something that would allow the iPod to be
hidden away, and controlled through the stereo.

The Neo iOn comes closest, but is expensive and not completely
compatible.

So I'm now thinking of just having an auxiliary jack installed, and
using something like the DLO Transpod Direct (not the wireless FM
transmitter). There'd definitely be some tradeoffs, but it would be
quite a bit less expensive.

Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks!

Oddly enough, we've actually heard the exact opposite. When we were in
the dealership, the salemen told us that the iPod can be connected,
stored in teh glovebox, and then controlled from the radio itself.

Have you gotten any more info?

Look up "Music Link" on the various Honda sites.

Navigation is difficult, syncing takes a long time, and it's all
rather expensive -- a bit over $300.

A sampler:

If it were less pricey, I'd probably take a risk and try it.

So I'm still thinking about the Transpod, and hoping something better
comes along after the 2006s have been on the market a little longer.
