Hi, I have a 1995 Honda Accord LX with 140k miles on it. The vehicle is
smooth and good except for the AC, which failed twice. I took it to the
reapir shop twice once last year and once the year before, but both the
times it seemed to work for sometime (6 months) - before it failed
again.
Im not a do-it-yourself type of guy - Can anyone in this forum refer a
good service shop or a AC mechanic in Dallas, Tx?
Thanks,
RK
This sounds like a leak which the shops aren't finding. They charge the
system with refrigerant, and it works for six months, but then all the
refrigerant leaks out. There are really only two likely sources of a leak
in a system like this--O-rings and the compressor seal. Next time, ask the
mechanic to replace all the O-rings in the system, before recharging it.

There is a kind UV dye that needs to be mixed when charging next time,
then the mechanics find where it is leaking then replace the o-ring.
Replacing all O-rings will cost a lot in labour charge.

Replacing all the O-rings at once is less expensive than replacing one now,
another in six months, another six months after that. And if one is bad,
the rest are getting ready to go bad.
