I had posted queries regarding the same and had numerous answers. The
Original issue is Radiator Fan keeps running even after car is shut
down. After getting imputs from various quarters I did the following.
Went to to the dealer and changed the thermo switches. After that we
did the customary test. Got the car started and let it for quite some
time. After that the radiator fans came on their own and went for 5
minutes and then stopped. The cycle continued. After that the mechanics
at the dealers place confirmed that radiator fan relay and fan timer
unit are fine otherwise the fan wouldn't come on and go out as
observaed. Even after that I came home and then bang the very next day
the radiator fan was coming on. There was a very neat observation. The
day it was raining. After that we had seven dry sunny days and things
were normal. But when it rains or when it snows and it melts the
radiator fan comes on. So can somebody help if there are any places
which can cause short circuit if it is humid or wet.

Also another thing is if I drive long distances when the engine is hot
perhaps it dries certain parts on the hood and radiator fan is usual.
So whenever I drive 10 miles to dealer I do not get the issue at the
dealer mechanics checks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I have never had to deal with this sort of problem but will take a guess.
It's my guess that the problem is related to the thermo switch or the
wires running to or from the thermo switch. It's possible that the new
thermo switch is defective or stopped working the day after you purchased
it. You should have the mechanic test those wires running to and from the
thermo switch. Perhaps the voltage (and/or amps) is too high or too low
and that is causing the thermo switch to stop working shortly after a new
one is installed. I should repeat that I am just guessing. A guess from a
mechanic that has solved this problem would be superior to my guess. You
should also have the mechanic test any other
items on that same circuit mentioned above.

I agree the fact that something related to the thermoswitch is not
working. Wiring is my guess. How can the mechanic test those wires. Pls
illustrate.

If you have a diagram of the wiring for a thermoswitch.

I checked the repair manual related to my 1999 Accord and the instuctions are
in my manual. However, since you do not own a 1999 Accord, you need to buy
a repair manual for your car and read the instuctions. Your mechanic
should have the instuctions on how to check those wires and the other
things on that same circuit. You may be able to find the instuctions
www.tegger.com website.
I don't own a repair manual for a 1991 Accord so can not provide the
instuctions that you need.
