Hello,
I saw good ratings on this bf goodrich T/A T  in tirerack.com.

When I called up a tire store, they questioned why I wanted
a tire that would be too heavy for my particular car.

This car is a Honda Accord LX 2001 (196/65/15).

What do folks in the forum think?

Previously, I've only used goodyears so i have no experience
w/ BF Goodrich. My goodyears usually wear tread quickly.

also are run-flats any good? Occasionally here in atlanta burbs there
are
nails on the roads...

Thanks

NO!!!! Horrendously expensive for what you get. But normal tires and pay up
your AAA subscription. Lot cheaper.

Buy a steel wheel from you Honda dealer or Tirerack and mount a real spare.
That would be a cheaper and very effective means to address a flat tire.

Thanks.

Which T/A are you talking about?

Traction T/A

Radial T/A

Touring T/A

Something else?

FWIW. I have about 15,000mi. on a set on my 2000 accord. They're wearing
poorly and sound worse than any snow tire I've ever owned. I took the car
into the honda dealer for an alignment and wanted the tires rotated and
balanced. I was told that the tires are shot and should be replaced (they
would have been happy to sell me another set). They did the alignment but
told me that it would be a waste of money to rotate and balance the tires.
So, Beware!

P.S Shortly after buying the tires I moved to another state so taking them
back to the original tire dealer was not an option.

Did you actually heft each tire by hand?

An entire tire/wheel assembly is (very) roughly about 30 lbs.

By "heavy", what do you mean?  Do you mean that they have a slightly
higher load rating than necessary for your car, or that they actually
weigh a bit more than most tires of the size?
