Shopping for replacement radio.  I have an Accord 2dr EX V6.  Anyone
know the compatibility of 2dr v. 4dr radios?  Is it a wiring thing?  Or
a mounting thing?  Just wondering what to include in my search since
half of the jacklegs on ebay (bulk salvage rescue types!) think that
everything fits everything or just go caveat emptor.

i cant help you with the physical mounting description, but as for the
wiring?

they changed the wiring some time in 1998/1999. i ran into that problem
with my 1998 civic. i bought an OEM stereo off ebay for $6 that claimed
to be from a 1997. it wasnt. it was from a 1999 or newer, and the
sockets on the radio was completely different from the plug in my car.

however... i found a "reverse stereo wiring harness", and wired THAT to
the plug compatible with my car. THEN it finally plugged and played, no
problem. i also got an adapter that plugs into the back of the radio so
i can plug my mp3 player into it. it fools the head unit into thinking a
changer is attached. so now i plug my lyra into the car, listen, take it
out, pop headphones on and keep listening. nice.

so even if the plugs are different, you can get a reverse wiring harness
from any circuit city or best buy...

however, you will HAVE to go to the stereo installation bays in the
back, because they will NOT have the harness on the floor.

OOPS!  Sorry about that.  mine is a 98 Accord EX V6.

ANOTHER question:  What about fully integrated in-dash changers for the
same question?  I just don't want to go off and buy a changer used and
end up getting hosed or stuck with it.  thank you.

if its DIN, double-DIN, or whatever form factor. as long as it matches,
size wise, therell be a way to plug it in.
