My 2000 Honda Civic makes a slight metal on metal noise when I startup and drive slowly. It goes away when I hit the brake. I had the brakes checked and they are fine. Could it be my timing belt? The TB probably isn't making noise, but it's coming 'due' because of it's age, right? Have you ever changed your tranny fluid? I'd do a drain-n-fill two or three times at your mileage. You have to use Honda Z1 ATF. SEARCH if you need more info. 'Curly' I just changed my oil and forgot to tell him to change the transmission fluid. Could that be it or could it be my transmission is going. It's [quoted text clipped - 17 lines] > > > > 'Curly' Like Curly sez - it's probably brakes - with regard to changing your ATF - if the he is somebody other than a Honda dealer - then the likelyhood of him using honda atf is remote. It is really easy to change yourself - but whomever does it - use Honda ATF - if anybody says some other product is just as good - run don't walk away - they are full of it. Maybe I should get a second opinion on the brakes. The last couple of times I had my oil changed I did it at the Acura dealer (I purchased it used and they included two years of oil changes at the time of purchase).
