I have a 99 Accord with the factory installed alarm system. I have been
having some issues with it and had 2 separate incidents tonight. The
first time, I used the keyless to lock the car from the outside when I
went into the store. My teenage daughter was in the car and opened the
door from inside when I returned to the car. The alarm sounded when she
opened the door. I entered the code on the radio, but it did not
silence the alarm. I started the car, but the alarm kept going. Then
when we got home, I opened the driver's side door and the alarm went
off again. And, again, entering the code on the radio did no good. The
neighbors loved me...
Any idea why this is happening and/or how to get the alarm to stop if
the code doesn't work?

I have a 98 Accord and strangely enough mine freaked out Today (Tues.)
too. I locked it. Later I unlocked it and entered the passenger side
and the alarm went off. Key then wouldn't turn in the driver's door
and I think the remote is going dead/getting weak. The remote wouldn't
cancel the alarm.
ANSWER: When the alarm goes off I believe the procedure is shut the
door and press and HOLD the Lock or Unlock on the keyfob for...I
think...5 seconds. Doesn't always work for me the first time but it
does work. Never heard the radio code thing before. Hope that helps.

The word CODE on the radio has N O T H I N G to do with your alarm
system. You need to read your manuals. I could install your Honda radio
in a Chev and it would still show CODE when I powered it up. I'd enter
the anti-theft code and it would work perfectly for 5 years until
somebody disconnected the battery. Then I'd enter the CODE again.
Your car alarm (assuming it's Honda) has to be shut off using the
'unlock' button on the remote. If you unlock the car but don't touch it,
it will relock (and re-arm) in 15? seconds. Please read these PDI sheets
for some help (they are for a newer model, but should help)

Thanks, Curly. I really swear, though, that I've stopped the alarm with
the code in the past. Just a coincidence?
I know I needed to read the manual, but it was in my car and I honestly
didn't want to open my door again because I figured I'd trigger the
alarm once more. Then the neighbors were really going to get me. I knew
someone in cyber space would help me :)
