Hi All,

I have a 95 accord Ex with 298000 Kms on. Two days back when i was
driving the car the engine temp started rising. I put some coolant in
the Spare. After a while the temp came back to normal.

I had to repeat this a few times, where the engine temp starts rising
and have to add some collant in the spare. Someone told me to add to
the RAD so i did and have to wait to see the outcome. But one thing
that surprises me is that i have added upto 6 litres of coolant in the
spare tank in three days and it is all gone.

Any ideas what might be going on with the engine and the car. Also
what i have noticed is that while the care is idling the engine starts
to rev automatically i.e. it goes from 1500 rmp to 2500 rpm and back.

Thanks for you help

You've likely got a blown head gasket. Your mileage is about right for
that, too.

By the way, the "spare" tank is called the "expansion reservoir". It is NOT
"spare", but is in constant use by the cooling system.
