Hi,

My Honda Jazz / Fit (5dr, i-DSI, SE, 1.4L, 2002) handbrake's release
button has recessed within the handbrake a little. It is still usable,
but a pain in the neck.

Would this be easy to fix, or should I take it to the professionals?

Is this a common fault?

Many thanks,

Kenny

What country are you in? Most people on this NG are in North America.

Try a small amount of lubricant-- Silicone, WD40, BreakFree, etc.-- first.
That may take care of it.

simply slide the plastic cover back down the handle.

A plastic cover! Thank you - that's incredible. I slid the cover back
down the handbrake, and that indeed did the trick, the button was
accessible again. I was unaware that this was a cover, and not a fixed
part.

Is there a way to stop the cover sliding back up again so easily?

Thank you!

now you're aware of it, you'll find you're conscious of the problem and
it'll never happen again.  if it does, you know what to do!
