97 Accord Hose Replacement Question

Hi,

Any help with the following would be appreciated.

97 accord, 97K miles.

Hose clamp broke. Dealer charged $125 to fix it, citing
inaccessibility and labor for pressure testing and diagnosis.

Dealer recommended replacing all hoses due to age of vehicle for
around $800.

This dealer has been fair in the past, but that seemed like a lot of
money for a hose clamp. I haven't approved the replacement of all
hoses.

Should I?

Thanks,

Rick

A little more info:

The hose clamp broke in half. It was the one on the lower radiator
hose where it connects to the thermostat. $.99 for the part, $124 for
labor and, apparently, they added the needed coolant for free.

maybe, but if so, from a different dealer.  sounds like these guys don't
want your business any more.  suggest you find a good independent honda
specialist.

Woah that seems like alot to me..  I just recently installed a
radiator in my 92 accord.... those hose clamps are simple to put on
and take off.... i dont know how they could charge u that much for
labor, it takes no longer then 15 minutes to replace a coolant hose,
so be it you have access to it.   The hose and clamps however shouldnt
be that expensive... I think these guys are trying to suck money from
you.

As for replacing all your hoses, its up to you.  You can wait till
another hose fails... or just go and buy all your hoses from ebay or a
parts dealer.  You will get them much cheaper then what the garage
charges you.
