Hello,

The paint on my BLACK 98 Accord coupe has worn out and  quite
embarrasingly chipped off from almost everywhere.

I went into a paint shop this evening to get an estimate :

Here's their website : http://www.onedaypaint.com/1daypaintsystems.html

They gave me an estimate of $837.00 (PLUS 2 PAINT System  {see website
above} + Body Work {for the few dents and scratches and chipped off
area} + Labor.

Is this a fair estimate ? Is there any other place that I could go
to ?

Any advice / sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Russ

You are getting a cheap paint job.  Personal recommendations if probably the
best way to pick a place out.

an average paint job should run you about $1200-2000 for the whole car.

Given the price, I guess they must paint with mops.  Figure around $2k for a
decent job.

Wrt others who have said that this is a cheap paint job, the body work and
labor should bring it up to an expected level.  A car like this is likely to
need a considerable amount of body work to get rid of small dents, and the
chips will all have to be sanded out, or it will not look right.  One thing
that is not clear from the ad or from your posting, is why the separate
labor charge?  Is the $837.00 paint and materials only?  Normally I would
expect a firm quote of X dollars for paint, materials, and spraying, plus
"labor" for anything else that needs done.

Since this is not their top of the line product, I would be concerned about
the quality.  Ask to see a car that has been painted with this process.
They should have a customer's car on the lot or be able to tell you when you
can see one.

Saludos cordiales,

Earle

Thanks for all the input...I appreciate it !

They did show me a few painted cars in the lot..seemed like a decent
job unless those were their trophy paint jobs ! Plus they provide a 3
yr warranty on the paint job on peeling , chipping , etc. So i'm
assuming that the paint and materials must be of decent quality at the
very least ! I'll let you know how it goes..heck, maybe even take
before and after pictures...

Cheers
Russ
