Hi
I need to get an airbag check done to see if my car has airbags
because it was in an accident 5 years ago says insurance.

I cant tell if theres an airbag in the steering wheel but It feels
kind of hollow if i press in the middle of the wheel.  Do all civics
feel like this?  My SRS airbag light comes on but goes off as soon as
i start the car, as it should.  Which leads me to believe my car is
equipped with them. Any suggestions?

if it passes self-test, it passes self-test.  find a different insurer.

Your vehicle has a self-test system (like most others).  If the light
goes on for approx 6 seconds when you start the car, then goes off, yo
have an airbag system and it is active and operating properly.
Your car monitors this sytem constantly when you are driving and if
there is a fault or a problem, the light will illuminate annd stay
solid.
I hope this helps

Yeah, I told that to my insurance company, but of course they need it
on paper.  Airbag inspection at honda is probably going to cost me
50-100 dollars... ughhh

Thanks for your help

the light going on and off means that it's testing to see if the
airbag igniters are there and it found them. If the igniter is there,
you can be pretty sure the rest of the airbag is there too.
