Anybody know why my clutch is sounding like a violin? I have an 05 Acura
RSX.

I'll try:  It might be because the clutch is too small to sound like a
cello.

Yeah.  It is a major difference if it sounds like a Dolling vs. Blanchard
violin... ;)

If it sounds like a Lippold or Stradivarius there really isn't a problem, is
there?

When exactly does it sound like a violin? Answer questions below:

When there is light pressure on clutch pedal?
When the clutch pedal partially or fully pressed?
Engine cold?
Engine hot?
Engine running? Engine not running?

Does the noise happen even when the car is not moving? Such as when the
lever is in Neutral and you repeatedly press and release the clutch pedal.

Duration of noise? A few seconds then it stops? Lasts a long time?

Does the noise appear to be coming from the region of the pedal, or from
under the hood?

How many miles on the car? What type of driving do you do?

Oh, and what note does it appear to be playing? (I'm serious!)

Whenever the clutch pedal is pushed and released, partially or fully.

All of the above.

Yes. I can't hear it when it is running because of the engine and road
noise.

> Duration of noise? A few seconds then it stops? Lasts a long time?

As long as the pedal is in motion.

The pedal.

> How many miles on the car? What type of driving do you do?

35,000 miles. Normal driving mostly on highway.

> Oh, and what note does it appear to be playing? (I'm serious!)

I don't know. Maybe I will let the dealer hear it, since it is still under
warranty.

Excellent idea!

At this point I suspect either the pushrod in the Master Cylinder, or the
pedal linkage. Or the return spring may be rubbing on something.

I can't find any TSBs that mention this problem.

Yes, it is the master cylinder. They replaced it and the clutch pedal is
quiet now.
