After much heartache I have decided to ditch my Civic ;o(

I have had it from new only done 36k mileage yet have had 2 EGR Valves, and
on Monday it is going in for another (2nd one) Turbo !

This is too much for a 4 year old car and because it is now out of its 3
years warranty it going to start costing me - NOT what I was expecting from
a Honda. ;o(

Shane because I really love the car.

Jim UK

What was the symptoms of the car when the turbo was failing?
The reason i ask is because my 54 plate civic ctdi was suffering
intermittent power loss with no indication from any lights on the dash i
couldn't hear the whistle from the turbo kicking in and it struggled to get
to 55mph+.

When i first told the garage i bought it from gordons honda in bolton they
said the ecu diags have reported no fault and so advised me to look out for
the problem again.Which i duly did and lo and behold 2 days later it did it
again so i drove straight to the garage left the car there for them to
scratch their heads for a few days and eventually i was told they have
replaced the turbo but the turbo wasn't actually the problem it was some
sort of intake or breather pipe being too small on the uk models of this
causing it to block up and thus causing this phenomenon,I've drove the car
since for over a year without the same symptoms appearing thankfully.

Although now it's booked back in again for rusting at only 3yrs old inside
the rear doors,Check all your welding joints for rust appearing.

Overall it's a nice car to drive but i really can't see why everyone goes on
about honda reliability,This is my 1st honda and maybe my last in this new
age they seem to be cutting corners like the rest,Paint rusting not just in
1 place is a complete disgrace of thin paint and saving costs on a 3yr old
car.I don't drive many miles as i have a company van at this rate the shell
will be completely rotted with a young healthy engine.

what a coincidence mine is also booked into Gordon's of Bolton !

I had no warning of the fault whatsoever - there was no indication on the
dash just a dramatic loss of power when doing 70 mph in the outside lane of
the motorway ( shook me up no end !)

the management system took control and wouldn't let me go over 50 mpg.

on the dealer issue - the staff at gorgons are very disappointing and
initially didn't want to know ! the staff at the desk said leave for the day
and they will get around to looking at it ! despite me being there at
am  -straight after the event on the motorway.

It took much pleading to get anywhere.

I had to phone back the next day to find out that the diagnosis from the
computer was several codes but they thought it was the turbo (my 2nd one !)

Now I feel so disillusioned with the car - even though I love it to drive -
that I am now looking around for a replacement hopefully I can still get a
decent price for it.

Needless to say the whole experience has put me off another Honda.

I'm also a bit disheartened i've heard of a few other cases of turbo related
issues with these models i feel a complaint to watchdog coming on.I'm gonna
make sure they clear up every spot of rust under the corrosion warranty and
i'll see what happens from there.
