If the mechanic is putting anything other than HONDA Z1 ATF in it,
you'll have to get it redone three times with the correct stuff. Dexron
is only for temporary / emergency usage. That's in the owner's manual. A
Honda tranny is an expensive thing to damage.
It's normal for any tranny to CLUNK when it's on an incline, especially
if the driver doesn't use the correct sequence for releasing the park
brake.
The mangled dipstick was apparently touched previously by another
dipstick. :-(

Thanks I don't know what they use. I'll have to leave it in for a week
and I'll change it with the good stuff 3x if they didn't use the
Honda ATF.

It won't hurt that it's being used as a 'rinse', just don't drive it
30,000 miles with it in, because it lacks some critical friction
additives that a Honda won't work without. It will also start to shift
like a slamming door.
It's easy to DIY. It's been covered a million times. Google Groups will
find it if you're unsure.

You can cause serious damage if you don't put the dipstick in correctly.
I change the fluid often (less than 10K) but rarely use Honda fluid.

Thanks again. Car is running fine so we will see.
Only Hondas 2001 and up must have Honda Fluid. Mine is a 94 and the
manual states Dextron 2 is good.

Funny, my '95 and '97 both say you can only use Dexron for _temporary_
usage. Same for my '98.
