My daughter tells me last night her 94 civic dx auto would not go into reverse. She says she heard a loud noise and then it went in. I took it for a drive last night and it seemed fine. This AM when it was light out I checked the tranny fluid and the dipstick was FUBAR! Here is a picture. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f339/ufatbasted/IMG_2510.jpg The cars is shifting normally. I bought a new dipstick from Honda and i'ts at my mechanic for a tranny drain and re fill now. Waiting to her > if there is lots of metal in the fluid. ------------------------- If the mechanic is putting anything other than HONDA Z1 ATF in it, you'll have to get it redone three times with the correct stuff. Dexron is only for temporary / emergency usage. That's in the owner's manual. A Honda tranny is an expensive thing to damage. It's normal for any tranny to CLUNK when it's on an incline, especially if the driver doesn't use the correct sequence for releasing the park brake. It won't hurt that it's being used as a 'rinse', just don't drive it 30,000 miles with it in, because it lacks some critical friction additives that a Honda won't work without. It will also start to shift like a slamming door. It's easy to DIY. It's been covered a million times. Google Groups will find it if you're unsure.
