2008 Civic Ignition key duplicate

My daughter needs another key for her new 2008 Civic. Is there another way
to get a duplicate without spending a ton of money on the dealers
replacement. She doesn't need the attached remote. Another valet key would
work but they aren't cheap either. Local locksmiths say they can't make
another key. Any comments will be appreciated.

the keys contain a RFID chip that is programmed to match a security code in
the engine electronics module.Without that proper code,the car will not
start. You can probably find blank Honda keys online,but only a Honda
dealer can program them,AFAIK.
