Hi,

I was at a Toyota dealer, and the salesman told me that the Civic's
digital dash has a bulb, or circuit, or something, that can
malfunction, resulting in a $500 cost to repair / replace, and is NOT
covered under Honda's warranty.

Is this true or just a lie from the Toyota salesman ?

Thanks.

before considering an answer, how about trying to assess the
/probability/ of it being true - was he trying to /sell/ you a toyota?

Sure I believe the Toyota salesman has no agenda when he tries to sway you
from a Honda to a Toyota, yea none at all :-).

Take a look at www.greenhybrid.com and while you may or may not be looking
at a hybrid, both Civic's have displays that are about the same  hybrid or
not....search for display issues I suspect you will not find anything and, I
believe if there were issues with the display it would show there based on
the size of the database.

Then, just for laughs ask what the display in a Prius costs, the point
being, Toyota uses lots of electronic displays too.
