surge in speed

any help. why is my honda 93 civic, going about 30 MPH having surges in
power constantly? thanks

If your mileage is really high (you didn't say) and you live on the
prairies (I can't tell) and you have cruise control, it's probably your
TPS. Use an Ohmeter with a needle on it, and check the Throttle Position
Sensor for a spot where it 'jumps off-scale'. That spot will correspond
to your cruising speed / RPM.

'Crawling' around looking for a parking spot in first gear will be very
jerky. You didn't say what kind of tranny you have.
