Does anyone in NG own one?  If so what are some of things that you like
about it, and what are the other things that you don't like about.  Would
you buy another S2000 again if you had the money, or if you prefer, buy
another vehicle?

I do not own one. However, I did want to say duing a visit to road atlanta I
did race with one around the track. They are very capable and very well
made. The owner was very happy. Just my 2 cents worth...

Thanks but it looks I'll make a Corvette purchase.

As a former Vettte owner -- good luck.  The S2000 at half the price is twice
the sports cars.

I own a 2002 S2000 and have accrued about 40,000 miles on it so far.  I
don't like the placement of the glove box, but that is an insignificant
issue.  The car is outstanding, good gas mileage [27 mpg] and tremendous
power.  The handling is unexcelled - incredible road feel and absolute
predictability, but it is not a boulevard luxury boat.  When you drive an
S2000 you must plan plan on driving - no cell phones, no daydreaming, no
floating along inattentively - the car is so responsive that you must pay
attention to what you are doing.  Regarding the question about buying
another one - NO, I'm keeping this one!

Cheers,

John Youngbauer

I have read elsewhere that the S 2000 really is somewhat unpleasant to drive
for anything more than an hour or two, which echoes your observation.  If
true, that is a disappointment.  I drove my 01 5 spd Prelude on a 800 miles
trip in one day recently and enjoyed every minute of my time behind the
wheel -- was not tired or sore.  And I am 62.  In the past, as an owner of a
variety of sports cars from a modified (autocross) Sunbeam Tiger, XKE Jag
and Corvettes, I found that none of them presented any problems on long
trips, or required the extreme level of attention you intimate.  Now, the
old 911s -- well they could get you in trouble.  Like you I would not give
up my Prelude.

Unpleasant?   It depends........   I'm a big guy, and at 6' 1", the
S200 is a pretty tight fit.   With the top up it feels like a sardine
can!   I know the '04 models are slightly larger inside, but haven't
had the opportunity to sit in one yet.   Over an hour driving my
girlfriend's makes my legs uncomfortable, but boy is the car fun to
drive!!!!   I'd say if you are built to be able to stetch out in the
S2000, you'll be able to drive for hours in it.   The seats are
wonderful!

I have considered the S2000 as a possiblity to replace my Prelude, but a
test I read indicated that the noise level in the car approached the level
of pain after a couple of hours driving.  A normal or even a shouted
conversation was impossible.  At 6.0 I ought to fit -- heck I did in the old
E types.  I was also surprised by Youngbauer's statement that the car
demands continual attention while driving.  To me that is suggestive of a
car that you have to constantly fiddle to keep it on the road.  Hard to
believe, but I would like to know.  Can't imagine that it would take any
more "care" than driving a Prelude or an RSX S and certainly not the skill
need to master the old Moss 4 speed  on the 64 XKE I had years ago.

Top up, it is very noisy, as there is literally no insulation.   Top
down makes it a whole different car though.   As for the constant
attention comment, he must have neant that the very quick steering can
get you into trouble fast if you aren't focused on your driving.
