Preferred Oil

Just purchased a  1999 Civic EX coupe with 80k.    Is there a preferred
dino oil?  Weight?

Probably 5W-30.I use Honda brand because is cheap, but any good brand will
do it. Look in the fill oil cap.
You also need to check on the timing belt. If you don't know if the previous
owner replaced, you need to do it. Also, check the transmission fluid,
antifreeze (use Honda brand only) and brake fluid (any DOT 3 or 4 brand -
Valvoline DOT 4 is very good).

 For starters, the oil must meet API Service SL.  This is the
industry standard for minimally acceptable crankcase oil.
