I am planning to buy a mid size SUV. I heard Honda Pilot is good.
Any opinions? Experiences?
What options to get? and not to get!
What is a good price to pay for this vehicle?
P.S: I am also considering Volvo's XC90 and Toyota's LEXUS 330 (older model)
Have you tried the following as starting points?
Consumer Reports April edition. Your public library typically keeps them.
Also, Consumer Reports may have a specific report comparing the Pilot to similar
non-Honda cars, providing still more detail. I think the April edition will tell
if and when other reports were made on a car in other issues.
Online, www.edmunds.com is a good starting point for pricing and options.
Lotta folks been posting here lately about emailing dealers, getting committed
quotes from them, and essentially getting the dealers into an impersonal,
discreet, price war of sorts. Seems worth a try if one lives where there are a
lot of dealers for a particular make of car.

What is an SUV?
Is that a station wagon to haul kids and groceries on paved roads? Or
is that a rugged vehicle with off-road capability?

Obviously, most people in this newsgroup will say the Pilot is best but
your best option would be to check recent issues (in the local library) of
major magazines such as MotorTrend and Car and Driver.
I advise you to test drive all of them. If you are over 6 feet tall--make
sure your head does NOT touch roof. A recent poster was very upset with
his Honda Accord because his head touched the roof. An intelligent poster
asked him why he failed to notice this fact when he test drove the
vehicle. Don't make this same mistake regarding this issue and other
issues.

Test drive, test drive, test drive.
www.edmunds.com for advise
Comparing to a Volvo and a Lexus, should probably check out the CRV and
the RAV4. Test drive all of them and check out www.edmunds.com for
consumer reviews.
The idiot that was upset about the accord should only be upset at
himself for being so incredibly stupid that he didn't test drive. I'm
6'4" and that is the first thing I do when I'm looking at a car is climb
in it, adjust the seat, and get into a comfortable position. If that
doesn't work, it's crossed off the list. After that, test drive. Simple,
but not for the simple minded.
