I'm hearing a rattling sound from my 1999 Civic LX, a frind of mine removed
the heat shield over my muffler as it was literally not being held on by
anything.  There is still a rattling, probably from a heat shield further
up, and now my Malfunction Indicator Lamp is on. From what I've researched
on the net, it sounds like my catalytic converter may not be working.... Any
suggestions?

You need to read out the code and see what the light is for.  Its probably
just a coincidence unless you damaged one of the O2 sensors removing the
heat shield.

Funny that you mentionned... I had my heat shield (for my catalytic
converter) removed a few months back and now my "Check Engine" light came
on. Hope it ain't related....

And I heard that most honda civic's has this problem, why hasn't Honda
addressed this ??
