Hi,
I have a 1990 Honda Prelude SR automatic. Can anyone tell me whether there
is suppose to be 4 or 5 gears? I think I may have a problem with the
transmission... when I reach 110 km/h it remains at about 3500+ rpm. I hear
it supposed to be at around 3000rpm or less.
Sorry I don't know much about cars.
Thanks in advance.

Your owner's manual tells you whether you have a lock-up torque
converter. Most important to change tranny fluid according to the
schedule, using only Honda Z1.
How many times have you changed it lately? You should probably do it
twice, a few hundred miles apart. What's your mileage, anyhow?

Thanks for your help.
I just changed my transmission fluid and everything seems to run better
now... I guess I just have to leave it as is until a major problem comes up.
I hadn't changed the transmission fluid for a year. How often should I
change it exactly? every 500 miles?? my mileage is 187000 right now.

All the automatic '90 Preludes sold in the US were 4 speed w/sport shift, so
I would think 4 speed for the UK too.
As far as rpm, my '99 manual Lude in fifth shows 3000 rpm at 60mph
(96.6km/hr) and 3500 rpm at 70mph (112.7km/hr). I know my '90 manual Lude
had these same kind of numbers.
