My 2000 CRV makes this howling friction type noise that seems to come from
the rear differential when accelerating through a turn. It does it after the
car has been driven for a while and is warmed up. Was there some special
fluid that should be added to the diff? does anyone have any comments or
suggestions? Thanks.

It's time to change the rear differential fluid.  Use only the Honda branded
fluid as you can do it yourself using a 3-4ft length of 1/2 in. plastic
tubing and a turkey baster, or the dealer can do it for approx $65 + or -.
