Hello,

I just bought an 85 prelude, 1.8L dual carbs...

the alternator is dead...has anyone changed one of these. Is it under the
car? Any help would be appreciated. I only looked at the car for a couple
minutes. It runs GREAT, seems very tight...

yes you do it from underneath the car.  There should be a
bracket you can undo from the engine that will allow enough
space to drop the alternator out with out pulling a
driveshaft.
