Civic lost power on freeway. Couldn't go over 20 mph. Noted that check
engine light came on. Stopped and got a tow truck. Dealer said that he found
diagnostic codes P1361 (too much end play in camshaft) and P0740 (bad torque
converter). He reset them and car ran OK. He said to drive it for a while
and see if problem reoccurs. We got it back and it so far it seems normal.

Anyone have any ideas on this problem ?  Dealer said it couldn't be a sensor
problem, because if it was just the sensor the car would still run OK, but
check engine light would come on. If these (rather critical) sensors
indicate a problem does the computer reduce engine power to prevent further
damage ??   Maybe it really is a sensor problem or computer glitch.

Thanks - Carl Snow

What's the mileage, and have you ever changed the tranny fluid?
