can some one tell what would a good
engine be for a project. something that will scream in a lite body.
a engine that i could pick up at a good wrecking yard. and one that i can
put a tranny on the back so i can install it in a rear wheel drive chassis.
i just got done with a v8 conversation in a chevy luv truck and now gas
prices suck so i want to build a mini hotrod
thanks eric

An engine from a wrecked Honda S2000 or almost any BMW or Mercedes.

honda motors are hard to beat, especially if you learn how to drive them
properly, i.e. with the revs up at the red line.

regarding the rest of the project, it's been done before:

You can put a 350 in an old Chevy Vega or a rear engine corvair.  Not much
on milage, but the sure scream.

My motorhead brother put a 454 in a Vega many years ago, "modifying"
(ripping the bejeezus out of) the firewall to make it work. He reported it
didn't steer well but could really accelerate!
