Civic a/c-heat ?

i own a civic02 Ex.   when i turn the windshield defroster on the car
automatically puts the a/c on as well, and wont let put heat to the
windshield w/o the a/c button engaged. this is a problem at the moment
and there must be someway to get around this. anyone have any
suggestions....help!!

This is common on almost every car today. The AC comes on in defrost to
dehumidify the air which clears the windows faster. Just turn the heat up to
get warm air. My 75 had this feature and probably most cars since.

Hi there
           As the previous reply said,this is normal,just an idea to save
you having to  push the aircon button yourself
