Are the 2004 and 2205 engines interference type?

All engines used in Hyundai vehicles sold in the U.S. since 1995 are
interference engines.

Avoid what? You're probably going to find that this is the case with
most cars on the market. There is nothing wrong with interference
engines. You just have to be diligent about changing the timing belt at
the recommended intervals. IIRC, every car I've owned has had an
interference engine and I've never had a related problem.

Go back and read Hyundaitech's post on this. He works on these cars for
a living, so he should know.
