Elantra 2003 - Adjusting head restraints

I'm simply trying to extend the front seat head restraints and can't figure
out how to "release" them.  On one of the two rods (of each restraint)
there's what looks like a spring loaded lock that can be compressed, but
this doesn't release the rod.  Any help appreciated.  And by the way, is
there any talk about more sophisticated head restraint technology being
implemented in the Elantra line?  TIA

You seem to have the idea down.  While pressing in the lock tab, pull up or
push down on the headrest.

The Elantra was redesigned for 2007, but I don't recall any new technology
in the headrests.

Thanks, I'll give it another go.
