1992 Elantra Power Steering pump pressure switch??

On the schematic diagram, one can see that the state of the 1992
Elantra Power Steering pump pressure switch is read by the Engine
Control Unit (ECU).

What does the ECU do with this signal?  There is no Check Engine Light
in this car.

The ECM uses the signal at idle to bump up the idle actuator a little bit
once it sees pressure.
