Hi, I own a 2006 3.3L Sonata, and the radio unit is a 6CD changer type with an externally amplified system. The car is UK spec meaning that a US version of the radio will not work. I got the car Jan 2007, and the radio is not RDS and will not play MP3 cd's. Hyundai have since upgraded the radio that they fit to my car type, and is now RDS and plays MP3 cd's. I went to the dealer thinking I would purchase the new type as a spare and do a straight swap. Problem. The replacement unit as spare part is over 5000 USD (2700 GBP). I even contacted Hyundai UK and they confirmed this ridiculously high price. Does anyone know where I could purchase this radio at a sensible price, like from the manufacturers, for example. Can you find out the price first please. I've tried contacting Korea, but no answers. The UK bunch are hopeless. They really do not know. Before I purchased the car I test drove a Sonata with a 2.4L engine instead of 3.3L, and the radio was RDS and MP3. I also emailed Hyundai UK (main importers) and they assured me the unit was RDS and MP3. Then the car arrived without either. I did get a £200 rebate, but it proved how badly informed they are. I honestly cannot find a better route to communicate to Hyundai on the site. They encourage you to communicate with the local importers and I have done that. Reference the laws of the land, I have already accepted a £200 rebate because at the time there was no better unit to fit, and not being a simple ISO fit, I thought it the best course of action at the time. When asking about price, I was asking what the cost of the unit was in Oz. I did not know you already had one and believed you would have to buy one off Hyundai Aus. May I remind you that my original question was where I could buy one. I was hoping someone may have had manufacturers details or contacts and go that route.
