Look for wiring shorted to the body of the car. Power from this fuse goe
through several harnesses and powers several items, so you'll need to wor
at narrowing down the short. The fuse controls power to the ECM, the EC
relay, fuel pump, fuel injectors, purge solenoid, EGR solenoid, and heate
oxygen sensors.

I tried disconnecting the alternator to see if bypassing it might
eliminate it as a problem, the fuse did not blow this time & the car
started briefly, then I heard a clicking noise under the dash & it
shut off. I re-connected the alt. and it did the exact same thing. I
tried starting 3 times with the same result. I was able to pin-point
the clicking noise. I think it is the main relay, but I have to check
the manual to be sure. Could it be bad? My Wife bought this car new 14
Yrs. ago and it has been an excellent machine. It only has 120,000
miles on it so I plan on keeping it for a long time to come. I will
continue to research.

The Relay in question is on the far left side under the dash &
fastened with a screw.

That is indeed the ECM relay, and it could indeed the problem, but once th
fuse blows, regardless of why, the relay will click off, causing a th
clicking you've already heard

I went on the Hyundai web site but I could not find an ECM relay. I
was able to enter the part # and it came up as a "power relay". Is the
ECM relay & the power relay the same thing!?

Nearly any relay can be described as a power relay. If my memory serves
the ECM relay has about 6 to 8 terminals

I believe it is indeed the ECM relay, it has 8 terminals and all my
research supports this conclusion. I'll check it if I can but I'm
pretty sure the ECM relay is not supposed to "rattle
" . Thanks so much for your in-put!
