Been thinking about replacing the air cleaner element in my 2005 Sonata, V6. Comments will be appreciated about whether it is easy enough for "do it yourself". Also suggestions as to what brand of element to purchase. Currently, the car has 23000 miles - still running with the original filter element. If your vision of the market is restricted to the USA, then yes, but, in another Countries it was release with the 3.3, since in NO place the OP say it was an American model, still, THERE ARE 2 possible engines, 2 possible procedures to replace the filter...... You'd do best to just ignore the fucktard otherwise known as Matt Whiting. He's been an insufferable a.s in several usenet groups for years now. Get any reputable brand air filter. Ie the brands you are familiar with, not the " Leaping Lizard Air Filter " one size fits all from the car boot markets. Everyone has to start somewhere, go for it. What puzzled me about this filter is that the cover is connected to a number of hoses, etc. I assume it is not necessary to remove the cover, lifting it to allow remove/replace of the filter should be sufficient. Actually, I have a bit of maintenance experience. I bought my first car, 1931 Chevy, in 1947 and have done all the light maintenance on all my cars since then. Ogato > >> Easy to do. Sorry, your story, still makes NOT sense at all. And if you are an utterly confused old person, hey, nothing wrong with that, I'm getting there too, but my advice to stay away from the engine bay is still the best thing you can do. The air intake snorkel should be the only thing attached to the uppe portion.
