I got caught in a massive hailstorn with golf ball size hail in my
Sante Fe.  I finally got shelter under a bridge on the freeway.  When
it was over I walked around the car in the parking lot of a hotel &
the body came out perfect bit what I thought was a dead bug was a chip
out of the windshield near my lef eye vision area.  Can it be fixed
instead of a whole new indshield cost?

Sure it can---

Almost all insurance companies nowadays will pay to have rock dings/chips
repaired and they will waive your deductible----just look in the yellow
pages under windshield repair.  Be sure to call your insurance company
first---sometimes they will refer you to the repair company, and most will
come to you to do the repair---

Correct FerdyPooh!  I phoned Allstate & they called Autolite Glass to
come over the next morning & he filled in the ding.  MAGIC!  It is
also covered for life of the car that I own for a larger flaw.  So if
the spiderweb shows, they buy the new windshield.  My DH was very
happy with that.  That paperwork states Allstate pay $14 for the
repair.

And the best way to get another chip in your windshield is to replace it.

Amazing all the toys this guy had & how it filled it right in.  Just a
small hair left & I really don't notice it like the "big dead bug"
look I did have.

Today he is 4 houses down doing the same thing for a guy who was nosey
asking if I got a new windshield.  So now he called for his 3
dings......
