As a follow-up, let me explain my situation. 1995 Trooper 3.2 v6 4wd.
Starter the engine last few days took an extra crank or so. Now all I hear
is this high-pitched whirring noise. It's suggested that this is the
starter. Is this so? Wouldn't be a big deal if I could easily find and
remove the darn thing since I could just get it tested.  Any ideas would be
welcome.
