I read with interest the article on the S type regulator problem posted by
N. Haupt.

Its scandalous that a window regulator should break at all, never mind all 4
regulators.

It got me thinking about what to do ...

Now lets face it (Take the emotion out of this all Jag owners) but Jaguar
cars have great engines, fantastic pedigree but absolutely crap build
quality. This has been true of the days when Jaguar was built by the
communist controlled unions in the 1970's. Ford is not exactly a company
known for its build quality, so what we need here is a company to partner
Jaguar who can build good quality cars.

Now I hear all those people raving on about the Germans. BMW and Mercedes do
produce some nice cars, but the Japanese have been turning out fantastic
build quality since the late 70's - So in my utopia, Ford sell Jaguar to a
Japanese company who sack all of the militant workers who take too many tea
breaks anyway. Build quality goes up and Jaguar lives forever !!!!

Great Idea  -- except the finish to the scenario has to be that the Japanese
then sell out to the French (Nissan/Renault) and that is when the build
quality REALLY gets good!!

It actually WAS very tongue in cheek, but Nissan/Infinity/Renault IS one of
the best build companies in the world and they ARE all owned by Renault.

Go figure!!

You don't have a clue about what you are taling about, do you?   Ford has
turned this company around.  They are now the best european car and 3rd best
in the world.   These studies and my driving experience are why I purchases
a 2005 S-Type 4.2.

JAGUAR LEAPS FORWARD IN 2004
J.D. POWER & ASSOCIATES INITIAL QUALITY STUDY

Jaguar has moved up to become the highest-ranking European nameplate in the
latest 2004 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS). Leaping
from 10th place in 2003 to rank third overall is a direct result of a 20
percent improvement on its previous year's performance.
The third-place ranking puts Jaguar well ahead of rivals Mercedes-Benz (10th
place), Audi (11th) and BMW (12th). Only Lexus and Cadillac placed higher
than Jaguar.

You tell him.  Or tell me if there is a vehicle that has zero defects within
the warranty period they offer.   I cannot list a car I have owned that has
not been back to the shop for some problem or another.  My 03 Avalanche had
the A/C fail at least 8 times.  I had even thought about using the lemon
law.  They replaced the compressor a few times,  the head unit in the car a
few times,  and minor parts a few times more.  03 Corvette - transmission
problem,   a few recalls,  door actuator short,  and some other stuff.  02
GMC Dually - oil consumption problem and windows that would not open.   05
Jag S-Type has been back for a flaw in the paint, tick in the motor, and
flaws in the windshield.    If there is a car that never fails,  I wanna buy
3 of them.
