would you happen to have a manual for your x300? If you have a scanner I could use a scan of the pages covering all the warning lights and controls. So what is the button on the dash with a picture of the boot on it? The botton with the picture of a boot is the remote boot release. The valet button is a security feature designed for if you use valet parking. Basically what happens is when you press the valet button and remove your keys the glove box and the boot are locked and the green key (the valet key) will then only open the doors and start the car, it will not unlock glovebox or boot (thus saving your golfclubs and luggage from a thieving valet). To switch the mode off you just unlock the car with the normal (black) key or remote.
