Group,
Any thoughts on things to look out for on a 1994 XJ12. I understand the
usual electrical gremlins, but any big ticket items that I should be looking
for? Car is a 1994 XJ12 with 85K miles. These are the problems with the car,
any thoughts?

Fuel pump relay not working, mechanic got it to work by wiring one side of
the ECU output directly to the chassis. Seems to indicate some kind of
problem with the ECU, which I am told is very expensive to buy brand new
(>$1000!!!!)
Drivers side mirror adjustment INOP.
Sunroof retracts and closes OK, but when supposedly closed the sunroof is
sagging below the roofline on the rear passenger side (probably just a
runner/raiser issue).
Valve cover oil leak.
Remote doesn't work, could be just the battery in the remote
Clearcoat on the roof is in a bad way, I have been quoted $500 to have it
stripped and re-painted.
Alloys are showing signs of crazing under the protective lacquer
Leather on front seats in a bad way, lots of small cracks and quite
dry/brittle. Any hints on restoration?

It all sounds worse than it is, it drives great, paintwork is in great shape
(apart from the roof) and the spare is original, also lots of past work done
such as steering rack and scheduled maint.

Thanks

- Barney

For your leather issues follow the link that is enclosed. I used these
products to restore my interior seven years ago and they are still perfect.

Watch out for those cheesy door handles- They are expensive and hard to
replace.
