Earth Straps on 1983 XJ-S

Hi,

If anyone can help me with the location of the earth straps on the engine
please let me know, can you say which side,  left or right when viewing the
car from the front and exactly where the straps start and finish, and the
easiest way to get at them  e.g.  from above, or below,  removing a road
wheel etc.

Also if anyone has added an additional strap then the location to do this
would help

This is to help resolve a slow cranking problem, also petrol pump does not
run when ignition is switched on, but I expect that the two are related.

When your cranking have someone hold the earth strap at the battery end, if
it warms up this can be an indication of faulty strap/connection
Its about 20 yrs since I worked on an XJS so cannot really remember.
Straps are usually connected to a wheel arch, a second often connected to
starter motor fixing bolt or clutch/gearbox housing bolt (where it bolts to
the engine)
