My 2000 air conditioning system  fails to provide adequate cooling here
in California. In case it only needs additional refrigerant, do you know
what type of refrigerant is in that system?

A 2000 vehicle should have R134. There should be an underhood label telling
you the type and amount of refrigerant. Unless there is something very
abnormal, the type of connector also tells you the type of refrigerant.
