Hello

What is the most recommended motor(less problems) for 80's or 90's XJ; R6,
V12 or V8?

Thanks Jukka

In order, I'd recommend the AJ8, AJ16 (post 95 6cyl), AJ6 (post 87 6 cyl),
XK 6cyl, V12.

In my opinion, the 4.0L 6-cyl is a block of granite.  It will run forever.

I've been around jags for a while. The 4.0 liter inline 6 is about the
most reliable in my experience. If possible, stay away from 80 to 89
jags, get a 90 and later, preferably a 92 or 93. Most of the problems
in the earlier models were electrical. Jaguar started using a lot of
german components (Hella relays, etc.) usually found on Mercedes and
BMW's after 89..
